Credit Card Skimmers at Local Gas Stations

You should always be very cautious when using your debit card.  Be familiar with situations where card skimmers have been tampered with to access your secure information.  We also need to be more aware of card readers when paying at the pump for gas. Here’s why.

There are some valuable tips:

  • Make sure the card reader isn’t loose. That’s a dead giveaway it’s been tampered with.
  • Look for the taped security seal around the card reader.
  • Most Importantly …… use a credit card.  Don’t give someone access to your funds with a debit card.

If something looks suspicious bring it to the attention of the business immediately. Their reputation is at stake and they don’t want to scare off customers because of skimmers.
