In Memory of Barbara Dell, SW Florida Dress for Success Founder

In Memory of Barbara Dell, SW Florida Dress for Success Founder

In recent news you may have heard that our community suffered a great loss on New Year’s Day, that loss was our beloved Barbara Dell.  Of course, she wasn’t just any woman; she was an entrepreneur and a visionary that turned out to be a true blessing for all the women that walked through the doors at Dress for Success in Southwest Florida.

Barbara was unstoppable. Her presence would light up a room and she was a true inspiration to all women; not just as a leader but also as a friend.   She was the type of woman that inspired everyone with her constant passion to help the women of SW Florida turn their lives around.

Our company first became involved with Dress for Success due to the volunteers’ enthusiasm at one of their first Shop for Success events at the Bell Tower in Fort Myers.   There was no job too big or too small for any of the volunteers because it was delightful helping a good cause and working under Barbara.  Read more here.

She will be truly missed but will live in our hearts forever. We can all commemorate a great woman not only by supporting Dress for Success but other charities as well. Pay it forward for Barbara; she would have wanted it that way.

A celebration of Life held for Barbara at the Broadway Palm on February 8th at 2:00-4:00.

Forever Pets Happy Home Adoption

We all know pets can improve our health, why not help yourself or a loved one and save a pet at the same time?  Forever Pets of SW Florida, a non-profit no-kill shelter, is a wonderful organization. We just adopted an adorable Maltese mix dog for one of our family members here at Card Systems. Ask anyone who has adopted a pet, and they’ll share their story of love, fun, and companionship with you, Why?…..because shelter pets are amazing!

There is a growing amount of research today confirming the impact the human-animal bond can have on a person and community health. Want to see for yourself? Please check out the links below from Harvard Medical School and Pet Partners.

2017 Apex Awards and SWFL Dress for Success

2017 Apex Awards and SWFL Dress for Success

A fabulous evening was had by all at the 2017 Apex Award Ceremony. There
was more than glamorous and beautiful women attending this event. All are
accomplished women who gave their time, knowledge and experience to make a
difference in our community.

It was especially exciting for us as our own, Barbara Dell, was the
recipient of this year’s prestigious award. Barbara has helped over 3200
women in Southwest Florida. Women who have fallen onto hard times, have
been victims of domestic violence or single mothers. Many struggling at the
poverty level just trying to make ends meet. Dress For Success offers not just clothing,
but programs to help them with their job interviews, learning new skills to
help them re-enter the workforce stronger and more confident than ever.
Recently, , I met someone who achieved the position of a manager at a local
Dillard’s only to learn that she attributed her success to Dress For Success. She repeated
how she could not have done it without the help, guidance and encouragement
given to her by Barbara and Dress For Success.

There is only one Barbara Dell! But what Barbara has built will affect
hundreds if not thousands more women as the SWFL chapter of Dress For Success continues to grow and touch every segment of our community.
